How we verify

Met Road covers Your-Money-or-Your-Life territory: a wrong fare or last departure can leave a traveller stranded. So we hold ourselves to one rule and show our work.

The golden rule

We don't state an operational fact we can't source and date. If we can't confirm it, we either hedge it clearly or tell you to confirm it locally — and how. We never dress a guess up as a fact.

Where our facts come from

In order of preference: the transit operator or authority directly (timetables, tariff pages, official notices); government transport ministries and project pages; then established news reporting, cross-checked against the above. We avoid single-source rumours and unverified aggregators.

Evergreen vs. volatile

We split facts by how fast they change:

• Evergreen — line count, route length, year opened. Changes rarely; re-checked periodically.
• Volatile — fares, operating hours, last departures, line status, opening dates. Changes fast, so each carries its own verification month and a source. A stale fare is a wrong answer, not an old one, so these get re-verified most.

The dates you'll see

Every page shows “Last verified: [month year]” — the date we last checked it, not when it was first published. Individual fast-changing facts may carry their own, more recent date.

How we hedge

• ~ or ≈ means an approximate figure pending a fresh check.
• “target [year]” on an unbuilt line is a stated aim from the operator, not a promise — dates slip.
• Part-open lines show open vs. total (stations running vs. planned).
• Our maps are stylised for clarity, not survey-accurate.

What we don't do

We don't claim first-hand experience we don't have — pages are researched, not visited, unless explicitly marked. We don't take payment from operators to alter a line's status or ordering. Freight-only and intercity rail are out of scope.
