Before you set off

• Know your route first. Check your line, direction, and interchange before you leave — not on the platform.
• Treat times and fares as a starting point. Confirm the last departure with the operator or station on the day. Our data is a guide, not a guarantee.
• Have a backup way home. Save a taxi or rideshare app, and carry enough cash for one ride.

While you're moving

• Favour daylight in places you don't know well, especially for first trips and quiet stations.
• Keep an offline map. Download the area so a dead signal doesn't strand you.
• Know the local emergency number and keep your accommodation's address written down — a screenshot works.
• Keep valuables low-profile on busy transit, and trust your instincts. If a route feels off, take the taxi.
